About Mob Jobs Mob Jobs is a 100% owned and operated First Nations business that provides specialised culturally safe employment pathways for First Nations people. We also offer a range of tailored corporate development services and training designed to improve organisations' cultural capabilities and establish them as an employer of choice for First Nations jobseekers.
About the Organisation Our client is a majority Aboriginal-owned and operated, Supply Nation certified electrical and infrastructure contractor operating across Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory. They deliver electrical infrastructure, energy efficiency and electrification programs for government, commercial and community clients, with a strong focus on sustainable outcomes, Aboriginal employment and community participation.
They are currently delivering a large-scale community energy upgrade program that helps households access modern, energy-efficient technologies and supports improved comfort, sustainability and energy outcomes for residents.
About the Role Many Aboriginal renters in social housing are eligible for these free home upgrades, but trust is built face to face, not through cold calls. That’s where you come in.
As an Aboriginal Liaison Officer, you’ll yarn with Aboriginal renters in your community, door to door, about what the program offers, answer their questions honestly and support them to make their own informed choice.
Participation is always voluntary – if someone says no, that’s the end of it. This is a community-led, paid role with full training and a supervisor alongside you for your first few weeks.
Key Responsibilities
Door knock and yarn with Aboriginal renters about the program and the free upgrades on offer, using the approved community engagement and safety approach
Answer questions honestly about what the program does and doesn’t do
Explain the consent form and support renters to complete it themselves if they choose to go ahead, including helping them find the meter number where solar is on offer
Record agreed feedback from conversations and pass it back so the program can learn and improve, following privacy and record keeping requirements
Respect every renter’s decision – no pushing, and no promises
Work your own area after initial training, with a weekly check-in with your supervisor
Note: this role does not involve entering people's homes, conducting home assessments, providing technical advice or undertaking any physical or trade work.
