About the Organisation Our client is an ASX-listed, equal opportunity business that develops and operates Australia's essential services networks across the telecommunications, utilities, transport, defence and social infrastructure industries, keeping communities connected. The organisation is launching new roles in its Transport division to support two new long-term Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) maintenance contracts awarded by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning (DTP). The Victoria West ITS Maintenance Contract (VIMC) covers more than 4,500 ITS assets across 27 Local Government Areas, spanning around a third of metropolitan Melbourne and extending west to the South Australian border. The Motorway Communications Network Contract connects more than 2,000 roadside devices, including lane use management signs, variable speed limit signs, freeway ramp signals, CCTV and sensor technologies, while also connecting private road operators with Victoria's transport control system.
About the Role As the Health & Safety Advisor, you will provide operational health and safety support across these contracts, partnering with leaders, employees and subcontractors to manage risk, promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with legislative and contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide visible, field-based HSE leadership by coaching teams and subcontractors and facilitating risk awareness activities
Support the effective implementation of critical controls for high-risk activities and hazards
Conduct audits, inspections and control assurance activities to monitor compliance, identify risks and drive corrective actions
Report on control effectiveness and emerging trends
Support incident, injury and return-to-work management by facilitating investigations and implementing corrective actions, partnering with leaders and HR
Provide guidance on fatigue, emergency response, psychosocial risk and wellbeing, promoting appropriate support services and recovery outcomes
Deliver HSE training, competency assurance and mobilisation support
Provide expert advice to leaders and stakeholders on HSE requirements and performance
About You
Previous experience in health and safety, preferably within infrastructure, construction, electrical, transport, utilities or maintenance services
Working knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and integrated management systems
Strong coaching, influencing, investigation, reporting and stakeholder skills
Requirements
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent
Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Current Victorian driver's licence
ICAM or equivalent investigator qualification (highly desirable)
