The Position We are seeking an experienced and highly respected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Strategic Advisor to provide executive-level strategic advice and leadership to the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Executive on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity, cultural safety and organisational accountability. This is a senior, identified role operating within a complex health and regulatory environment in Australia. The position will play a critical role in supporting the integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the business with governance, strategy, policies, standards and organisational practices. Working closely with senior leaders, the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Strategic Advisor will contribute to the implementation and monitoring of strategic commitments, including the Strategic Plan and Reconciliation Action Plan, ensuring these translate into meaningful, measurable outcomes that improve healthcare outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The role also provides high-level advice on cultural, reputational and systemic risks and opportunities, and supports to strengthen culturally safe practice across its operations and influence within the emergency medicine system.
About you
Demonstrated experience providing strategic advice at a senior or executive level
Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity, cultural safety and self-determination
Experience advising on governance, accountability frameworks and organisational reform
Proven ability to identify and manage cultural, reputational and
systemic risks and opportunities
Strong relationship management skills, including engagement with
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and sector stakeholders
Highly developed communication and influencing skills, particularly
with senior leaders

demonstrated through a range of pathways. Candidates may bring a combination of:
Established Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leadership experience within community, health, or professional contexts
Cultural authority, lived experience and deep connection to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities
Experience influencing at a strategic or governance level
Equivalent experience is valued alongside, and in place of, formal qualifications
This role will be 0.2-0.4 FTE part time. While this role offers flexibility to work remotely, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the West Melbourne office as required by arrangement.
