The Role Make a difference for First Peoples in the Norther Suburbs! The Unit Manager Aboriginal Communities position is responsible for the development and delivery of the strategic priorities of the Aboriginal Communities Unit. They will ensure the effective delivery of community-centric services and activities and capacity building of internal services and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community engagement and participation.
Key focus areas for the role include:
Supporting the team and to deliver great programs and projects, including activating the Our new Aboriginal Gathering Place in partnership with local community.
Building and maintaining relationships with Traditional Owners within the Our City.
Supporting and liaison with key community stakeholder groups.
Cultural awareness and capacity building of Council’s leadership team and wider organisation.
About you Note: This position is only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants.
You will be a passionate and constructive leader with excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills and someone who exemplifies Council’s valuesand behaviour’s, particularly regarding supporting and bettering the local community.
You will demonstrate cultural leadership with integrity and advocate for community priorities, translate these into organisational practice, and guide outcomes through complex administrative settings.
